The Christ Who Gives Peace

Scripture for Meditation: John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Prayer of Blessing

Responsive Reading: Numbers 6:22-27

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

 “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”

Hymn of Peace: God, the Uncreated One

God the uncreated One, the author of salvation,
Wrote the laws of space and time, and fashioned worlds to his design;
The One whom angel hosts revere, hung the stars like chandeliers,
Numbered every grain of sand, knows the heart of every man.
He is King forever,
He is King forever,
He is King forevermore!

God our fortress and our strength, the rock on which we can depend;
Matchless in his majesty, His power and authority;
Unshaken by the schemes of man, never-changing, Great I Am,
Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall; He is faithful through it all.
Crown him King forever,
Crown him King forever,
Crown him King forevermore!

Mighty God in mortal flesh, forsaken by a traitor's kiss;
The curse of sin and centuries did pierce the lowly Prince of Peace;
Lifted high, the sinless man, crucified, the spotless Lamb,
Buried by the sons of man, rescued by the Father's hand
To reign as King forever,
Reign as King forever,
Reign as King forevermore!

King Eternal, God of Grace, we crown You with the highest praise;
Heaven shouts and saints adore, you're Holy, Holy, Holy Lord!
What joy in everlasting life; all is love and faith is sight;
Justice rolls and praises rise at the Name of Jesus Christ,
King of Kings forever,
King of Kings forever,
King of Kings forevermore!

Hymn of Hope: Christ, Our Hope in Life and Death

What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong.
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ in which we stand.

Chorus:
O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal.
O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess:
Christ our hope in life and death.

What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good.
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer's blood
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh unto the shore,
The rock of Christ?

Chorus:
O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal.
O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess:
Christ our hope in life and death.

Unto the grave, what will we sing?
Christ, He lives! Christ, he lives!
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord;
Then sin and death will be destroyed.
And we will feast in endless joy,
When Christ is ours forevermore.

Chorus:
O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal.
O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess:
Christ our hope in life and death.
(repeat)

Now and ever we confess:
Christ our hope in life and death.

Hymn of Longing: One Day

One day You'll make everything new, Jesus
One day You will bind every wound;
The former things shall all pass away.
No more tears.

One day You'll make sense of it all, Jesus.
One day every question resolved;
Every anxious thought left behind.
No more fear.

Chorus:
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be;
When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory.

One day we will see face to face, Jesus.
Is there a greater vision of grace,
And in a moment, we shall be changed,
On that day.

And one day we'll be free, free indeed, Jesus.
One day all this struggle will cease,
And we will see Your glory revealed
On that day.

Chorus 2x
Yes, one day we will see face to face, Jesus.
Is there a greater vision of grace?
And in a moment, we shall be changed;
Yes, in a moment, we shall be changed;
In a moment, we shall be changed
On that day.

Chorus:
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be,
When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory,
We'll sing and shout the victory.
